Food is very simple with limited options, but they are all made with care and are quite tasty. Coffee is a bit basic, but serviceable. Warm, friendly and welcoming decor make this place a treat to visit. We rented a cabin for two nights at a cost of about $80 per night. The cabin was very roomy (slept six) and it was clean. What we did not realize, however, is that there was no bathroom in the cabin. For a toilet, we had to use a porta potty out on the lodge road. To wash our hands or take a shower, we had to walk up to the lodge. They do provide soap and towels there. So it wasn't necessarily a good value considering that rather major thing. But admittedly, there aren't a lot of options in this area. I was pleased that there were screens on the windows of the cabin. It was also nice that there was a microwave and small fridge. Nice ambiance. However our service was very slow. The lady that originally took our drink order was busy texting and totally ignored us. Eventually we got a young lady to help us out. I ordered a hamburger, my partner a BLT. The hamburger was good but nothing special. The bun was very good, possibly a potato bun and it had been toasted. I had soup rather than fries. It was beef barley and i found it to be very good. My sidekick' s BLT was good, said exactly what she wanted. Fries were good, made of real potatoes and were hot. Nothing jumped out at us but overall it was satisfactory. The service sucked, they need to fix that and would receive 4 stars if it had been better. Cozy lodge with fair prices and very friendly staff. I got a grill cheese (with tons of cheese), a cup of clam chowder, and one piece of French toast for $10. The rooms are $125 a night -- very Spartan and bare, but clean enough. Half hour drive from downtown Talkeetna. Food was absolutely wonderful but the service by Andora was lacking. We ordered then she brought us our food and ticket at the same time and never came back to our table to check if everything was okay, if we needed boxes, or to refill our water. I don't know if she was at the end of her shift or what but it was very disappointing.
